Perfect Peace
Peace. It’s a simple 5-lettered word that seems elusive at times. For example, I’ve been running around shopping with my daughters today for our traditional Christmas shopping date with non-stop chatter and excitement, I was feeling a little weary. Each girl had things to do this afternoon and both left in a whirlwind of energy leaving me in a vacuum of silence…and peace.
There’s another kind of peace that shows up in difficulties and struggles knowing that God has gone before you and has given you calm assurance that He’s in control and you can rest in His promises…peace. Then there is PEACE. Peace that is spread to every part of the earth where Jesus Christ is received.
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:11–14).
The PEACE that Jesus brings is ever descending from God to mankind…bringing glory to God. God’s PEACE lived out among mankind for the sake of HIS GLORIOUS NAME.There are three aspects to peace I want you to consider. Peace with God. Peace in your soul. Peace with others (for as much lies within you to be at peace).
As we enter the final days before the celebration of the birthday of Christ, ask yourself these soul searching questions:
~Am I at peace with God?
~Is my soul at peace?
~Am I at peace with others?
If you are not at peace, my prayer for you is that you will spend time alone with God asking Him for the peace that passes all understanding. It is only when your heart is at peace with God will you be able to fully appreciate and experience peace in your soul and with others as much as is possible. (I do understand there are situations that may not allow this here on earth.)
“For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on His shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
