Worry Like a Wren
This is why I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? Matthew 6:25-34
Outside my piano studio window, a Wren couple have made their home in one of my bird houses. I watch their comings and goings all day long… Listen to them singing to each other and to the eggs that are nestled in great comfort inside the birdhouse.
I’m often amazed at nature and the reality of my loving Heavenly Father as He provides for me a home to live, clothing to wear, and food to eat. I strive daily with keeping my finances in a place that I would be secure… Being overly cautious and careful in purchases being made, or not made… Concerned with what I am wearing not being fashionable enough. And yet I can learn so much from these two tiny birds, who enjoy sing their hearts out all day long… Bringing branches and odds and ends to make the nest more comfortable… Sharing tasty morsels on my porch banister.
May today you find rest and peace in a Heavenly Father who sees fit to provide for even the littlest creatures… How much more He will provide for you, His Child. Let’s sing our hearts out in worship to our Provider of all perfect gifts (James 1:17).
